Eat Locally. Think Globally.
It's all t
he rage now, isn't it---growing your own food, just like Grandma and Grandpa used to do. Many a "Victory Garden" was planted back in the day. Well, everything comes around again and this trend is a great one. My wife and I have a large vegetable garden and grow most of our own produce during the warm months. I also can much of our tomato crop along with peaches from my Mom's peach tree to enjoy summer's bounty throughout the winter months. And, as many of you know, we have a small flock of chickens in our backyard and enjoy fresh, organic eggs from happy, well-fed hens. (Our little flock was featured in a January, 2011 article in the St. Louis Surburban Journals.) We also have our own honey supply from our backyard bee hives.
So, how can you get in on the trend toward growing some of your own food? We can help. We can build raised garden beds or lay out a regular garden plot, recommend the best plants and varieties to try and give you a primer on how to cultivate your own fresh veggies right in your own backyard. Grow your family's favorites or try out something new. Let the kids grow their own Halloween pumpkins this year.
Growing your own food is a smart investment in your family's health and your own bottom line. Nothing is better than picking and eating your own fresh produce and it's economical, too. You'll be teaching your children valuable lessons in gardening, raising produce and where real food comes from, along with spending some quality time with them. Nutrition, value and fun all in one package--your own garden. So, whether you want a small plot of your own or a large neighborhood cooperative garden, call us to get growing!
